Vet prices have increased significantly over the last three years. For reference, a one night stay in an emergency hospital can cost upwards of $2,500 pending the issue.
I acknowledge that there is a $400 tax-deductible charitable adoption. I understand that this is a donation to cover the costs associated with rescue, including medical care, microchip, spay/neutering and boarding, and not a purchase price for a dog.
